Due to unconvincing turn out of the first voters  registration for the 2010 Elections and also brought by the pleadings of some sectors in society particularly the youth, the Supreme Court ordered COMELEC for an extension of the registration.

The COMELEC expects an additional 2 million-new registrant-turn out from December 21, 22, 23, 28 and 29 extended registration dates.

However, the Commission cleared on Monday that no more registration will be done come January 2010.

The working dates up to January 9, 2010 is set to be the period for the following schedules:

January 4 (Monday) — posting of the list of applications

January 6 (Wednesday) — opposition to the applications for registration

January 9 (Saturday) —hearing for approval or disapproval of the applications by the Election Registration Board (ERB).
